FerroForcia rear door hinge set (unassembled / paint yourself) for Land Rover Defender 90 / 110 / 130
The rear door hinge set is universally designed to fit all rear doors of Land Rover Defenders up to and including 2016 production. This set is uncolored and unassembled. The paint must be applied by yourself (the hinges do contain a special pre-paint coat for easy painting/spray). In addition, these hinge parts still need to be assembled, please follow the instruction sheet (downloadable below) for that.

Important: the original Land Rover bolts (6 side bolt head) can’t be used! Bolts with a torx-head or socket / allen / pan head hex screw can be used.

Painting / spray is a MUST! Otherwise there’s not enough protection against wheather influences.

The aluminium hinge parts contain a special pre-paint coating. It’s very important that the hinges are treated with a good paint, otherwise there’s no adequate protection against weather influences. Spray / painting therefore is a MUST with this hinge set.
In order to let the hinge do its work, it’s decided to use galvanized brass rings in between the two aluminium parts. The pivot point therefore continues to move easily. Brass rings are chosen as these do not break through cold or heat. The rings are galvanized to keep them looking nice, so they do not turn green in time. In addition, the silver grey matches the black colour nicely.
The hinge is well thought out and a neat design has been chosen. Everything for the quality and the eye. The hinge is not rugged, but has soft gradients and lines for a sleek, subtle look.
Our hinge sets are excluding bolts, nuts, revets and shims for mounting. These are though seperately available. What do you need?
- 6x M8x30 pan head screws (for mounting in the Defender)
- 6x M8x55 pan head screws (for mounting in the door)
- 12xM8 self-locking nut
- 22xM8 revet (to be used as necessary)
The original Land Rover bolts (6 side bolthead) can NOT be used! There’s not enough space for a 6-side tool. Most imitation bolt sets are torx or socket / allen screws, which can be used. A FerroForcia pan head hex bolt set is also seperately available (MSB-001).
In addition, a Filler plate set (MSF-001) is seperately available for the protection of your Defender’s paint. Definitely recommendable!
The hinges contain a grease nipple and internal channels in the hinge pin to get the maintenance grease in the right places. This allows the entire inside of the hinge, every corner and hole, to be greased. This ensures a longer lifespan for the hinge.
A grease syringe can be clicked onto the nipple to grease the hinge. In this way you prevent ‘dirty’ stripes over your door after maintenance, since the grease is not applied from the outside of the hinge.
The grease nipple has a conical wire, so it’s mounted solid to the aluminium part of the hinge.
These unassembled hinges are NOT greased by us. For a long hinge life, it’s important to thoroughly grease the parts yourself.
Do you have a spare rearwheel? A spare wheel carrier is definitely recommended! The rear door of the Defender is not made to carry a lot of weight on it’s own. Our hinge system is different from the original, so it can handle more weight, however, a rear wheel directly on the back door does not ensure a long life for your door and any hinge.
